Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I don't think I have ever had a bad meal here. Or a bad drink for that matter. Edgar is one of the best hosts/owners/bartenders in the restaurant business in FDL! Always greeted with a smile Edgar knows my wife and I by name and is always as accommodating as he can be even though he is usually very very busy! Casa Del Tequila earns it's name by having over 160+ different Tequilas on bottle at all times! On top of that Edgar knows just about everything there is to know about Tequila and the drinks that require it. One of the best places to eat in town! You won't be disappointed! Thanks Edgar!

Great fresh chips and salsa. Expansive menu with selections beyond the standard fare like chicken mole which my husband really enjoyed. Was a great spot for a three generation family meal. Regular margaritas were nothing special but fine. My yucatan tacos were delicious. And the service was lovely.

Since I live in TX, I feel I know good Mexican food. It has taken a while to find up this way but we did it. We love the table side guacamole and salsa, cold beer and good service. It's a great place to stop for a snack! We've had dinner here as well. It's all good!

This wasn't my idea. This was my boss trying to do a nice thing and take us somewhere different for dinner knowing I loved Mexican food. It's hard enough to find decent mexican food in the Northwest but in Wisconsin? Umm, no, definitely not my idea. The things that I liked about the place: 1. over 140 different types of tequila. I hate tequila but I think that's cool 2. table-side salsa *and* guacamole The host was friendly. The waiter was young and inexperienced. The busboys/girls were reasonably on top of things. The place was average on cleanliness. It was quite loud and the decorations were more cliched than Taco Bell. It was embarrassing. The food. The menu was all over the place with offerings. I don't know if that was good or bad. I'm not that familiar with regional cuisines but it seemed like they were trying to cover all regions throughout the menu. Trying too hard. (This could be ignorance on my part but that's what it felt like.) I had the green chicken enchiladas - the menu doesn't say verde and I don't either. It was just a overcooked, flavorless green sauce smothered in melted cheese and topping some very dried out shredded chicken enchiladas in corn tortillas. I could only eat a few bites. The beans were tasteless and the rice tasted like something you would get in a frozen meal called 'spanish rice'. The salsa was good. When we asked for hot salsa, we got it. Table-side service was nifty. The guacamole (also table-side) was way overpriced but the portion was enormous and the avocados were fresh.

Things have drastically changed in the last few months at Casa del Tequila. I've been a loyal weekly customer since Casa opened. Up until recently I've never had anything but wonderful things to say about the food, prices, and service. However in the last two weeks I've been disappointed both times I have come in. Without warning or explanation the owner abruptly stopped his lunch buffet. A large group of us from work came in specifically to try the buffet he had been heavily advertising. Both times I've gone into the restaurant in the last two weeks have been on a Friday during the lunch time and both times the salsa maker has been AWOL. This is hugely disappointing since this is one of the reasons I stopped eating at my old favorite Mexican Restaurant. Lastly-both times the waitress has been running around like crazy because they have been understaffed. It's apparent that the owner is attempting to save money-but I suspect that like myself his other regulars will stop frequenting his wonderful restaurant if this continues.

Great weekly specials and cold beers. Friendly staff. Love the carne asada meal. Ask for black beans.

Table side salsa was great. Food was great. Waitress a little odd, but owner stopped in to check on us. Nice touch.

Finally!! We found a Mexican restaurant that we like in the area! First off, love how clean the place looks! I've been to many Mexican restaurants that are less than inviting. We were offered table side salsa immediately and it was excellent! I loved my food. Loved the sample platter. My husband and I both loved our dishes. Delicious strawberry daiquiris. Great service. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Huge portion sizes and very tasty! Made to order salsa right at your table is a very nice touch. My wife and I were both very impressed with this establishment.

Great food, great service, good prices, and really nice looking interior and layout.

My family went here on Saturday early afternoon for a taste of Mexico! After reading the reviews I guess I was expecting the best Mexican food I have ever had. Although I was not disappointed in my fish tacos (the sauce was terrific super yummy) I was disappointed in the salsa it lacked flavor. I loved that they come to your table and mix it right in front of you super cool but it just had no flavor :( The sangria was ok but honestly the sangria I've had at Olive Garden was better. My husbands margarita was good! My husband said is entrée was good. The atmosphere was very nice and clean and they have several separate rooms which I liked especially with young kids so we don't disturb couples out without kids. The portions were a nice size I was not able to finish mine.

The best Mexican food north of San Antonio! We ate here for the first time, and it was a knock-out. I've lived in Mexico and San Antonio, and I can sincerely say their food is incredible. The guacamole was the best I've ever tasted, and the horchata was also the best I've ever had. Their secret is this: Everything is made fresh from scratch. The greatest thing about C del T is the flavor. They use full seasoning in their food and don't tame down the flavors for "Midwestern" taste buds. To top it off, the staff and servers are exceptional.

Great food and great service. Made the salsa at the table and greeted at the door. A++ drink menus is great, food was great and came in a timely fashion and hot.

This is the newest Mexican restaurant in Fond du Lac and judging by the crowd that is there on a regular basis, it is well-liked. My first visit was in a Saturday night and the place was busy, but the interior seating area is very large with many different rooms and even though the bar was full, we were able to be seated immediately. Fresh, crisp corn chips and excellent poured margaritas started our meal off on a high note that got only better when one of the staff approached out table with a rolling cart and then proceeded to make fresh salsa to order (choice of green or red - mild, medium or hot). The salsa was wonderful and full of flavor. My wife ordered the Chicken Tinga - shredded chicken cooked with chorizo, onions and a chipotle sauce. It also included rice, beans and tortillas. It had a great flavor and I'd recommend asking for a side of sour cream as that really blended well with the flavors. Our only complaint was that the meal was cool and it was obvious that it must have sat a bit before being delivered to our table. I had one of the combination dinners that included a tamale, chimichanga and an enchilada - also served with rice and beans. The tamale was steamed in a banana leaf and included some chunks of chicken in it. Over all the tamale was good if a bit bland. I much prefer a more seasoned pork or beef as a tamale filling. I chose shredded beef as the filling for both the chimichanga and the enchilada. It was excellent - great depth of flavor and the perfect spice blend. The bar has a wide selection (80+) of different tequilas and even has a tasting selection that you can order and try any of 4 different tequilas. Many other drink specials are also available including mojitos. We will definitely be back and this place may become one of our regular places to visit.

Very good food and excellent friendly service. Got the tableside guacamole made by the owner with a smile and explanations of the food and specials. We don't live here but when we visit again we will definitely be back!

Great food! While they have delivery, they wouldn't deliver to a place that was approximately 10 miles away, a little odd. But as noted, food was good! When we went and ate at the restaurant, the staff were very friendly!

We will have to go back to this place to see if we just caught a server on a bad night, but our experience wasn't great. Our server was very slow at every point of the meal, once leaving us without checking on us (or even walking by) for 25 minutes. From the time we ordered to the time our food arrived was 47 minutes! No chips refill or apology or anything. About 10 minutes after ordering, our waitress came back and said she forgot what I ordered! I was baffled. The majority of the time we were there we had empty drinks and empty plates. By the time the bill came the mosquitoes were out in full force and we were getting eaten alive. Hopefully someone there wises up and fogs the area before the dinner rush starts, or puts out citronella, or something, because they were terrible. The waitress said she was sorry it took so long because "everything is made fresh" and she was "used to working at places where the food is already made." Not sure what that meant, but it wasn't an apology for messing up our meal, which I would have gladly accepted and would have been reflected in the tip. That said, the food was better than I expected. Fresh tasting, great beans and rice, and the prices were good. 4 margs and 2 entrees for $35-pretty good deal. Like I said we'll be trying it again and I'll modify this review if it is better.

Love Casa the food is amazing! Cochinita pibil is my fav it's pork with an apple cider sauce and the staff makes u feel right at home.
(5)Annie D.
We had good service and good food. Overall, I'd recommend it. Our table side salsa left a lot to be desired, but tasty drinks and delicious entrees made up for the salsa. The live music created the perfect ambiance.

We were from out of town and came upon this restaurant this past weekend. We are a family of 6 and we all ordered different things. Two of us ordered the Super Nachos. They were terrible! It was like they sat under the warmer way to long. So, the chips were limp, the cheese was hard and clumpy, the meat and beans were really dried out the the sour cream and guacamole were hot. Our waiter was nice enough, but never asked if we wanted more water to drink or even come back to see how we were doing and if we liked the food. The tamales were just ok . The only thing worth wild were their chips and salsa. So, I guess we won't be going back anytime soon!

By far the best Mexican in Wisconsin I've had so far. The tequila list is amazing, & I finally found a establishment serving Camarena Tequila!
(5)Chris N.
Simply a fantastic Mexican restaurant. I travel for work and I eat Mexican in every town I visit and this is one of the best I've ever been to. They have Sonoran and Yucatan style dishes and over 140 tequilas to try. Ask the owner to recommend some tequila and he can take you on a journey through all the best distilleries in Mexico. If you're anywhere in the area come try this great place.
(5)Heather Z.
We really enjoyed our meal. We think it's great that they make the salsa right at your table. The best guacamole my husband has ever had. Our meals were both very tasty! Great price for the amount of food you get. The owner stopped by our table to make sure that everything was good. Excellent service all the way around.
(5)Audrey W.
Traditional Mexican flavor, flare and decor, with nearly 140 tequilas to choose from; all imported from Mexico! I have had better beans and rice but with guacamole and salsa made fresh at your table what more could you ask for? They also have $5 lunch specials Monday-Friday. I gave it 4 stars for the fresh made salsa!!! But the salsa alone is more than 5 stars good ;)

This was a totally mixed bag experience for a Sunday lunch. The big issue is the service, not the food. We were led to the table and nobody explained the salsa/guacamole situation. Somebody threw some chips on our table and nothing else. And then we waited...and waited. About 10 minutes later up rolls a cart with a woman who asks us how we would like our salsa? Oh ok - you're making it fresh? That's cool. What's with the giant tip jar on your cart? Never even offered guacamole either... The main dishes were very tasty but the server was very lack luster. She never came back for the obligatory "How's everything" and my Diet Soda sat empty with no offer for another for the last 15 minutes of the meal. I can't re-iterate - the food was excellent - but the service is keeping this place down!

Better than i would have expected. Nice, simple Mexican. Big menu, lots of choices. Good place for kids. They brought nachos right away, but no salsa. Next thing I know, a woman is making salsa from scratch tableside. I have seen many places do guacamole like that, but not salsa. Very cool

The very best and most authentic Mexican food around! Great staff with good prices. Edgar ( the owner) will even recommend different types of tequilas for you to try or he will make you one of there many unique margaritas (if you are luck enough to catch him behind the bar). My two favorite items at Casa are the chicken tinga and fresh made to order salsa

Classy and personalized, gives the whole family a good experence. I will go back again.

I love this place. Fresh salsa, and Rainbow Margaritas are the way to go!

A hidden GEM! Established by one of the co-founders of La Perla in Milwaukee. We had such a delightful time here - EVERYTHING was great. The decor and the staff's attitude make you feel like you are just joining in on a really fantastic, laid back but superb ongoing party. Like permanent Cinqo De Mayo. Our server was warm, friendly and exceptionally considerate. I had the steak fajitas and they smacked of being authentic (as far as this gringa could tell anyways). We met the owner at the end of the evening, who told us he's at over 170 different kinds of tequila! I would love to go back and have him take me on a tequila tour. If you like Mexican food and/or a tequila connoisseur you simply must make a visit.

Bartender, who may have been the manager, was fabulous! Excellent mojitos. Food was good - chicken tinga, steak ranchero, veggie fajitas and guacamole are all recommended. Our food took a little extra time due to the computer system, which didn't bother us at all, but they still gave us another round of drinks and were very aplogetic. Super nice poeple. Would definitely go back!

This place continues to amaze me. Yesterday I was driving back to Milwaukee from Eau Claire, WI and had hoped to do a late dinner at Casa on the way back, but things got later and later and I didn't arrive until 8:45pm, and walked in past the sign that read that they close at 9 on Tuesdays. I stood and waited a bit because there was no host at the stand, and I could see diners still dining. The bartender had also left the bar area, and I had at least hoped to get a drink at the bar and some pub grub if they had any chips, sala, etc... Anyway, the owner comes in and asks me how I am doing. I say that I am sad that I arrived so late and that I assume the kitchen is still closed. No, he said, we'll take care of you. Sit down and we'll feed you. I sat at the bar to be somewhat unobtrusive and he gave me a menu and chatted with me as I ordered. I said that if they didn't have something back there in the kitchen to surprise me... I ordered three tacos: pollo, lengua, and carnitas. He said he'd check with the kitchen and said that they were out of lengua, and that he'd make me a special taco which they make for him with chorizo and carnitas. He also suggested the pork taco instead of the chicken after asking me if I had tried it before. He said I would love it. He asked me if I wanted them the traditional Mexican way with onion and cilantro in the soft corn tortilla of if I wanted them the American way with either hard corn or soft flour with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. I said that traditional was great and we talked a bit about cilantro and it's origins in Mexican food and the word avocado which sounded a lot like abogado, or spanish for lawyer, and how the word aguacate loosely means lawyer's testicles to the Maya people. I think that was the gist... but it was funny and interesting to chat with him again. I got the platter quickly with three beautiful tacos. They were each as sublime and savory as I remembered, and I had a pile of refried beans, heaps of delicious rice and lettuce and tomato on the side. The chorizo and steak taco was indeed the best, and I was pleased to be treated so well. I was sure to be out within :20 so that they could finish their sidework as they did so around me. I thanked them profusely and the owner said that he was indeed right to serve me as they were still there anyway. This place is truly the best thing in Fon du Lac, and the best Mexican restaurant in the state... and pushing to be the best in any category, imho.

I've never heard of table side guacamole and salsa, so I decided to stop by and check it out. The lady preparing the guacamole and salsa pulled up in a cart, was extremely friendly, helped me pick the perfect amount of heat, cilantro, and onion for my taste, and with great finesse prepared the two in two separate, large stone bowls. I could watch her grind the chilies, mush the avocado, squeeze the limes, and make the concoctions. This was the one of the best guacamoles and salsas that I've ever had, and my only complaint was that the chips weren't as impressive as the two. The serving portions were very large, and even trying to have the guacamole and salsa as the only things for dinner, I was not able to finish the guacamole. It seems to be sized for about four people to have as an appetizer, or two as a meal.
